Stephen Martin is a Tax Partner and Head of Corporate Tax at Old Mill, based in Chippenham. He leads the firm’s corporate tax offering and advises directors and shareholders of private limited companies on complex tax matters, with particular expertise in transactions and succession. He is also Old Mill’s in-house lead on employee share incentives.

With more than 20 years’ experience, Stephen works primarily with owner-managed businesses across a broad range of sectors, helping owners navigate significant events in the life of their business. This includes company sales, management and family buy-outs, as well as planning for longer-term ownership and succession.

Stephen also advises start-up and scale-up businesses on tax-efficient structuring, including Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) and Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) matters, and helps businesses with claims under the Research and Development tax regimes. Having trained with a top 10 London firm, he combines deep technical knowledge with practical commercial insight, taking into account both the immediate tax implications of a decision and what the business and its owners are ultimately looking to achieve.
